in a comforting atmosphere.
We encourage all women to

Centers recommends monthly breast self-examinations.

The American Cancer Society Guidelines for
Early Detection:
Women Age 40+
• Annual mammogram
• Annual clinical breast exam
Women Age 20-39
• Clinical breast exam every three
years
Breast MRI
In addition to a mammogram, an annual MRI is now
recommended for all women at high risk.

Digital Mammography
Our digital mammography technology is the latest innovation in breast
imaging. Digital images are sent to a computer instead of film. This
gives our radiologists a closer view with different perspectives for a
better assessment of the image. Digital mammography is faster and
uses less radiation than film mammograms. It is especially helpful in
patients with dense breast tissue.
Diagnostic Ultrasound
We offer breast ultrasound, which is non-invasive and uses high frequency
sound waves to create an image. This is often used in
conjunction with the mammogram for further investigation.
Stereotactic Core Needle Biopsy and Ultrasound-Guided Biopsy
We specialize in minimally invasive, non-surgical biopsies that can be
performed on site, in the same location as your mammogram
or other services. This procedure is performed by one of our board certified
radiologists with equipment that is designed for your comfort.
Using digital technology or ultrasound, the area of concern is located
and biopsied. This provides an accurate diagnosis and enables women
to resume normal activity the next day.
Breast MRI
Pacific Medical Centers offers magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to
augment mammography for women who are at high risk for breast cancer.
It is also a more effective way to screen the dense breast tissue in
high-risk women. We'll be happy to evaluate whether you are a candidate
for a breast MRI and, if so, to schedule an appointment for you.
