Pacific Medical Centers Opens Diagnostic and Wellness Center for Women
Pacific Medical Centers' new Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women delivers peace of mind and offers a welcomed twist on the often dreaded but critically important annual mammogram. The new Center is a great example of Pacific Medical Centers' continued commitment to providing truly patient-focused care. The soothing, warm hues of the decor and custom-made, heated robes are a few touches that aim to put anxious patients at ease. Attention to every detail is what sets this new state-of-the-art center apart. Amidst the spa-like atmosphere, you'll find world class professional medical care and equipment. "Our goal is to change the healthcare experience for the better and encourage people to take a proactive approach to wellness", said chief operating officer Linda Marzano.
For many women their own health takes a back seat as they juggle their demanding daily schedules; the Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women makes it possible for women to bundle medical screening procedures and diagnostic services together, in one location, in one day. Patients have access to the following screenings and services:
- Digital Mammography
- The Diagnostic & Wellness Center’s digital mammography technology is the latest innovation in breast imaging. Digital images are sent to a computer instead of film giving radiologists different perspectives for the best assessment of the image. It is especially helpful in patients with dense breast tissue.
- Diagnostic Ultrasound
- The Center offers breast ultrasound, which is non-invasive and uses high frequency sound waves to create an image. This is often used in conjunction with the mammogram for further investigation.
- Stereotactic Core Needle Biopsy and Ultrasound-Guided Biopsy
- Radiologists on site specialize in minimally invasive, non-surgical biopsies. Using digital X-ray technology or ultrasound, the area of concern is located and biopsied. This provides an accurate diagnosis and enables women to resume normal activity the next day.
- Breast MRI
- Pacific Medical Centers offers magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) screening to augment mammography for women who are at high risk for breast cancer, or for those women who require additional investigation of a problem.
- DEXA bone scanning
- The DEXA scan is a way for patients to be proactive about their bone health. If detected early, there are many therapies and treatments available to prevent bone deterioration from osteoporosis. This safe, painless testing will help you and your physician make effective treatment decisions.
- Therapeutic Massage
- The Center's massage therapists offer many types of treatments and specialize in post-surgical massage, which is covered by many health plans. Patients may opt to combine a relaxing massage on the day of their mammogram.
The Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women is located on the southeast corner of 8th and Madison, in the new M Street Building. "M Street is the ideal location for our new Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women," said Pacific Medical Centers chief executive officer Harvey Smith. "Opening our own breast center allows us to ensure the highest quality of care to our patients and M Street provides a state-of-the-art facility that is convenient and accessible."
In addition to the Diagnostic & Wellness Center for Women, Pacific Medical Centers opened its Diagnostic Center for Sleep Health this month, offering full-service sleep disorder services provided by board-certified sleep specialist — all in the comfort of Spring Hill Suites luxury hotel in downtown Seattle and a new primary care clinic in Federal Way.
