Urogynecology
Urogynecology is a medical specialty that aims to restore comfort, function and quality of life to women experiencing pelvic floor disorders such as urinary incontinence, bowel control problems and bulges or pain in the vaginal area.
Women with pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) often experience discomfort, inconvenience, anxiety and embarrassment. They may be reluctant to exercise or take part in social functions. Fortunately, many PFDs are medically treatable, and if you have one, you can regain control over your life.
At Pacific Medical Centers, our team of highly trained experts in the Urogynecology department will work with you and your full care team to make a diagnosis and choose the best course of treatment. We can help you manage and treat symptoms like these:
- Pelvic pressure or pain
- Tissue protruding from the vagina
- Frequent or urgent urination
- Urinary incontinence (leakage)
- Difficulty emptying the bladder
- Inability to empty bowels
- Painful intercourse
Our Urogynecology providers can offer you the latest treatments. You’ll receive care for voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence, uterine prolapse and pelvic organ prolapse—including cystocele (“bladder drop”); rectocele (a sagging/bulging rectum); and enterocele (post-hysterectomy vaginal prolapse). Treatment options include both surgical and nonsurgical management.
If you are one of the millions of women affected by a pelvic floor disorder, you’ll find excellent care at PacMed. Our Urogynecology team looks forward to helping you return to the activities you love so you can enjoy your best life.
