Keep on track with 2020 Flu Shots

More important than ever—but delivered differently—due to COVID-19

NOTICE: Incorrect Number on Flu Shot Reminder Postcard
September 13, 2020
PacMed patients recently received a postcard reminding them to get their flu shot. Unfortunately, the phone number to call was stated incorrectly. Please use 1.888.472.2633 instead of the number listed at the bottom of the card to schedule your appointment. We apologize for the confusion.

The flu vaccine supply for children is limited. Please check back for more information.

While the challenge of COVID-19 is with us, keeping your health in top shape is more important than ever. The flu vaccinations will be offered differently this year, to keep you and the community safe.

  • PacMed is not offering walk-in flu clinics this year.
  • Flu clinics by appointment will be offered on select Saturdays and other days for existing PacMed patients.
  • You can also get your flu shot during any scheduled medical visit with your doctor, for example during your annual physical, wellness visit, or a visit addressing another concern.
  • We are not scheduling individual doctor's visits just for a flu shot. If you only need a flu shot, please make an appointment for one of our flu clinics.

This year, we changed our flu shot offering to appointment-only clinics, rather than walk-ins, to help with social distancing.

If you are an existing PacMed patient, you can reserve your time at one of the flu clinic dates below by calling 1.888.4PACMED (1.888.472.2633).

Getting Your Flu Shot

The CDC recommends everyone get a flu shots by the end of October, 2020. However, shots are still effective when given through late winter, into early 2021. Uniformed Services Family Health Plan (USFHP) members are encouraged to get vaccinated during a scheduled visit or make an appointment for one of our designated flu clinic dates.

Some people report having mild reactions to flu vaccination. The most common side effects from flu shots are soreness, redness, tenderness or swelling where the shot was given. Low-grade fever, headache and muscle aches also may occur. If these reactions occur, they usually begin soon after the shot and last 1-2 days.

When you come in for your flu shot, please remember that masking is currently required at all times inside PacMed clinics. If you do not have a personal mask to bring, we can provide you with one when you arrive.

To save time when receiving your flu vaccination at one of our flu clinics, please fill out this form and bring it with you.

For more information on the flu, check out our flu FAQs. For general information about vaccines and checkups, please visit our Health Resources section.

Flu shot costs & insurance

Flu shots received during a visit with your doctor will incur the normal fees for your doctor’s visit. However, for many insurance plans there is no additional charge for adding a flu shot to your visit To receive your flu shot without a doctor’s visit, our flu clinics are open to PacMed patients. Many insurances cover the flu shot through these clinics at no charge to you. The cost for insured patients depends on the contracted rate with your insurance.

Whether you get your flu shot during a doctor’s visit or through a flu clinic, if you are concerned about costs we recommend you call your insurance to confirm coverage before coming in. PacMed will bill your insurance directly for your flu shot.

Flu shots are also available for patients without insurance. If you do not have insurance, please come prepared to pay cash. The cost of the flu shot depends on your age (because different types of vaccines are recommended for different age groups).

  • $80 for ages 65+ or for those with weakened immune systems
  • $50 for ages 19-64 years old
  • $23.44 for children ages 6 months-18 years old

Please check this page for changes before you come to a flu shot clinic, as details may change.
