What is a psychiatric nurse practitioner?
They are nurses with a bachelor’s degree who have also completed an advanced practice degree (masters or doctoral). They can practice within the scope of psychiatric medicine, but cannot treat other medical conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.). They can diagnose mental health disorders and treat those disorders with medication.
